Dr. Langman is professor of laboratory medicine and pathology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, Minn., where she is also laboratory director in the division of clinical biochemistry and immunology. She is the first individual to have achieved diplomat status with the American Board of Clinical Chemistry in all three disciplines (clinical chemistry, molecular diagnostics, and toxicological chemistry). She has served the the Academy as president, on the board of directors, as abstracts coordinator for five years, and as chair of the Awards Committee. Other examples of her service to the the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (formerly AACC) include serving on annual meeting organizing committees, the Nominating Committee, and the Pharmacogenomics Task Force; as treasurer of the Therapeutic Drug Management and Toxicology Division; and as chair of the the Midwest Section. She is the past president of the International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology and chaired the Toxicology Interest Group of the Canadian Society of Clinical Chemists. Dr. Langman serves on committees for several national and international professional organizations, including guideline committees of the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute, distance learning committees of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine, annual meeting organizing committees of the Society of Forensic Toxicologists, and various committees of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry and American Academy of Forensic Sciences. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, presented more than 125 abstracts and talks at national and international meetings, written 20 book chapters, and co-authored five books.
