Initiatives

The Academy’s guidance documents and practice guidelines aim to optimize patient care by providing recommendations for best practices in laboratory medicine. The Academy also publishes Scientific Shorts, brief articles in which laboratory medicine professionals discuss timely healthcare issues.

Another major Academy initiative is the Optimal Testing guide, a resource focused on tests that are commonly misused in hospitals and clinics. This guide recommends better tests and diagnostic practices that medical professionals can use instead.
