The Point-of-Care Testing Division provides a forum for the development and dissemination of point-of-care testing knowledge as it relates to its use for self-monitoring (i.e., acute and chronic diseases), in-hospital use (i.e., emergency department), and lab and healthcare provider-directed community testing (i.e., physician’s office).

The Point-of-Care Testing Division disseminates information about critical care and point-of-care testing and its alternatives. The Point-of-Care Testing Division encourages and supports research in several domains including cost effectiveness, patient outcomes, novel biomarkers discovery, and test method development.

The Point-of-Care Testing Division liaises with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and other professional societies with related interests.
