Helen Free Travel Grant

The Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) Helen Free Travel Grant was established to honor Helen Free, whose many achievements include the development of the first urine glucose dipstick, a milestone advancement in laboratory medicine. This grant provides $2,500 in travel support to assist eligible recipients in attending the ADLM Annual Meeting. The Helen Free Travel Grant is awarded to a non‑doctoral applicant residing in the United States, with the goal of supporting professional development, engagement, and participation in the broader laboratory medicine community.

How to Apply

Submit a single PDF document of your application to [email protected] by February 28. Applicant must be able to pay in advance for airfare and other expenses related to travel to the meeting as the award will not be given until arrival at the meeting.

Applications should contain the following:

  • An official request for funding. The request should include the following:
  • Applicant's CV or resume
  • Two letters of support that must be on organizational letterhead and address the impact your attendance at the meeting will have on your job and in your institution, AND financial need to attend.

Applications will not be considered unless submitted as a single PDF document.
