Neil Harris

Neil HarrisNeil Harris, MD, FADLM hails from Cape Town South Africa . He received his medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Cape Town. This was followed by a residency and research program in Chemical Pathology that entailed a thesis dissertation for an MD which is a higher medical degree in that system. He started a fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at the Children’s Hospital in Boston MA. This was followed by a Clinical Chemistry Fellowship also at Children’s Hospital. After about 7 years of training. Harris then entered a AP/CP residency program at Fletcher-Allen HealthCare in Burlington VT (now UVM Medical Center) to get my US credentials. He was subsequently offered a job by Drs. Bill Winter and Ken Rand at the University of Florida (UF) at the end of his residency. He has worked in the UF College of Medicine Dept. of Pathology Core Laboratory now for over 20 years. His duties are broad, but he developed a special interest in coagulation and in hemoglobin disorders. Harris has served on the CAP Committee for Hemostasis and Thrombosis. He work closely with the clinical hematology team. His teaching is mainly aimed at pathology residents and fellows.
