Call for Applications: Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Applied Laboratory Medicine

AACC is seeking applications for Editor-in-Chief of its new journal, The Journal of Applied Laboratory Medicine: An AACC Publication. The deadline for applications is July 20, 2015.

The new journal, which will begin publishing in spring 2016, will be a forum for peer-reviewed, applied research on clinically relevant laboratory topics and commentary on the practice of laboratory medicine, including the following topic areas:

  • Laboratory Medicine: Clinical chemistry, therapeutic drug monitoring, clinical toxicology, hematology, coagulation, clinical immunology, clinical microbiology, molecular diagnostics, point-of-care testing
  • Methods: Instrumentation, automation, analytical techniques, validation and verification, clinical validity and outcomes
  • Management: Clinical laboratory management, quality, and education
  • Current issues: Healthcare issues and regulations, best laboratory medicine practices, test utilization and appropriate use

The Editor-in-Chief is primarily responsible for managing the peer-review process and is solely responsible for the scientific content of the journal. The Editor-in-Chief reports to the AACC Board of Directors.

Candidates for editor-in-chief should be members of AACC in good standing, with a current academic appointment in laboratory medicine; broad and in-depth knowledge of the field, its leadership, current trends, and advancements; and substantial experience in writing, editing, and reviewing scientific articles.

AACC expects that the position will be part-time and that the incumbent will continue to work at their home institution.

The new editor will be appointed in 2015. The term will begin in January 2016, and run for 5 years with the possibility of re-appointment for one additional five- year term.
